Reading Passage 2

Kelly and Tom pushed each other, laughing as they made their way to the games hall amidst the noisy crowd. Carrying their backpacks and water bottles, the twins screamed when they saw their friends already forming a queue.

"Please form two straight lines immediately! Check your belongings to make sure you have everything with you now!" Mrs Tan's voice boomed across the hall.

"Quick, let's hurry up or we will be late!" Kelly urged Tom. In an instant, they were at the back of the queue. With deft hands, the twins opened up their backpacks, and a toilet roll, a toothbrush, long pants and cutlery spilled out. The teacher glared at them, shaking her head.

Feeling embarrassed, they apologised meekly and re-packed their bags.

Reading Aloud Practice 1

Read the passage aloud clearly.

"May, let's go to the park now! It's such a fine day that it would be our loss to stay indoors!" Kim exclaimed excitedly. Yawning and stretching herself on the sofa, May looked at her sister in amazement. How can she be so energetic? They had just reached home from their swimming lesson less than an hour ago.

May frowned at her sister and closed her eyes, hoping that Kim would leave her alone. As expected, Kim continued to nudge her sister and finally May surrendered. "Alright, you win! Let's go to the park but it's only for an hour! No longer than that!" Kim's face brightened up instantly.

Grabbing her bag, Kim pushed and pulled her lazy sister from the sofa and swiftly closed the door behind them. "It's going to be a wonderful evening at the park for us!" Kim smiled in glee, tugging May with her.
